About Bahar Atish

Bahar Atish is an Iranian rapper, feminist artist, and theater graduate based in Canada whose work moves between protest music, personal narrative, and social resistance. She began performing rap as a teenager in Iran during a period when women in Persian hip-hop faced censorship, surveillance, and systematic exclusion from public artistic spaces.

After experiencing arrest, political pressure, and forced interruptions in her artistic career, Bahar left Iran and continued her work in exile. Her music explores themes of gender violence, migration, collective memory, survival, and resistance while blending politically charged rap with theatrical storytelling and autobiographical lyricism.

Alongside music, she works across media, live performance, and social activism. Her recent projects focus on collaboration among Persian-speaking women rappers and amplifying the voices and visibility of women artists working under censorship, displacement, and gender-based oppression.
